Hi everyone, My husabnd and I own the property on the west end of Echo Lake across from Diamond Brook Kennel. We stumbled upon the property about 6 years ago while out jeeping for the day. We made our way through the over grown brush down to the water and fell in love with this pristine lake. Since that time we built a post and beam home on the property, this has been a labor of love as my husband has done it all, while I spend my time landscaping and of course floating! We spend most of our weekends there and would love to hear from folks that spent time on the lake before us....stop by any time! ~Donna~

I toured the TLC grounds on May 1st, 2011. Since my last visit I found some significent changes: Tthe hard surface of the tennis courts were removed; the dougout alonf the third base line is now gone; the growth of hundreds of small pine trees that was all over the fields on the flat areas have been cleared. The only #@*%! that had existed are the concrete pad where we played tether-ball, the steps up to the porch of the dining hall, the basketball backboard frames, the fireplace at the Rosens house and the stone wall and TLC sign frame at the entrance. I went to the Coconut Grove Arts Festival today and saw Ricki Levine. I don't know how I recognized her after 45 years or so!! It's a small world!

WOW I can't believe I found this site after googling myself....Would love to reconnect with some of my old friends but I don't remember the names!!!!! I looked at some of the pics too and saw myself sitting next to Jane Gross at Helene and Bing's patio at Awanee????
ANyway I hope someone will contact me..Looking at the mess hall pic brought back memories too...

My husband Ed May and I own property on the west side of Echo Lake - we're told on the site of the former lodge. We are very interested in learning more about the history of our little retreat.

It has been 42 years (unbelievable) since my last year at Wanee as a counselor. I have recalled wonderful memories of those days many times over the years, especially the years when my own kids went to camp in upstate NY and Maine. What a delightful surprise to discover this site by accident!! I have been checking out the pictures and familiar faces for days. Would love to hear from anyone who remembers me.
